Recently, we bought a combined cable box/hard drive recorder. It wasn’t cheap but we LOVE it. It is the version of these devices that is specifically provided by the cable company (in our case Shaw). It incorporates two tuners so we can record two shows while viewing a viewing one that we’ve already recorded. It works in conjunction with the cable onscreen guide so that while viewing what’s on we can just press one button and that’s it. The ability to create a “series recording” is getting good use too.
