Calcutta
We stayed a few days in Calcutta because it was a good way
to get from Kaziranga to Varanasi.
We ended up in a fairly unusual accomodation- The Saturday
Club which was originally an Englishmen's club but when the
British left, it became an Indian Club. Food was great and
very reasonable and the club is very central within the
city. We really enjoyed evening drinks with new friends in
the "Light Horse Bar" of the club. In Kurseong we had met a
man (Rakesh) who lived very near and he came, found us and
took us on an incredible late night trip to see the sights
of the city and then out again in the early morning. The
flower market pictures are some of the best we took in the
whole journey. Calcutta was an interesting city to visit.
We should have allocated more time for it.
